We are a group of micro farmers who welcome anyone who keeps animals or grows vegetables and fruit, or loves cooking! Who would like to come along to our meetings or events and share their experiences with others. You don't need to have lots of animals to be a "smallholder." Many people who grow vegetables, have some bees or maybe a couple of backyard chickens come along and enjoy the meetings and events as well.

Wilkins Director, Chris Newenham, has agreed to give us a guided tour and talk on the production works at the site, growing fruit and the environmental implications of growing fruit.
For those who would like to come along, please meet at the Cafe and Museum at 7pm.
Tea and coffee will be provided and this should finish at approximately 8.30pm.
Afterwards, John and Isabel Doubleday, have kindly invited members to their home.

Pig Keeping Course - 17 September 2011
Good Afternoon Everyone
For those who attended the last meeting, i mentioned about one of the members of the group who has very kindly invited us to her holding.
Kate Morris of Ballymara Pigs in Ongar, Essex has offered alongside her vet Lauren Hammond from Royston Vets, to offer a practical pig keeping session at her house.

Kate has ten breeding sows and two boars split between Berkshire and Oxford Sandy and Black Pigs.
They are going to hopefully give us a practical demonstration on Castration, Artifical Insemination as well as other pig husbandry. But we all need to do is keep our fingers crossed for timings to work!
I have had 15 people who would like to attend following the meeting last Tuesday and Kate is happy for another 10 people to come long, this is on a first come first served basis.
I will ask for everyone to make a £5 donation
The scheduled date is Saturday 17th September 2011 at 9.30am for a couple of hours.
