Management and Welfare of Seasonal turkeys

THIS IS THE LAST ONE THAT ADAS WILL BE RUNNING




ADAS is delivering a workshop as part of the Livestock Health South East
Project.


This event is aimed at small scale poultry keepers and smallholders and will
focus on:

· Brooding
- how to ensure we get it right?
· Health and welfare
– rearing, diseases and humane slaughter
· Management
– breed selection, lighting, litter management , feather pecking


The meeting starts at 10am and run until 3.30pm in an informal atmosphere.
Food and refreshments will be provided.

Message from the Chairman - Bell Meadow Show - 28 August 2011

Good Afternoon

 

We have decided not to attend the Joyces Farm Show on the 4th of September but instead Bell Meadow Day on Sunday 28th August. This event starts at 1pm and they have quite a lot going on, followed by a band in the evening.

Bell Meadow Show - 28 August 2011

 

We are hoping to put on a good display for the day.

 

Due to licenses with Pigs and Sheep, Mum and I have agreed to take our sheep and Weaner pigs, as a performing arts license will cover to take them. Whereas the Blackwater Show required a lot of paper work and time to arrange with Defra for a license to be issued and a huge disease contingency plan!

 

We are looking for people to bring poultry along to the show and people to help out on the day promoting the group!

 

Whether it be bringing a cake or some sandwiches (we will have the trusty camper van to keep us watered), helping put the stand up and take it down. Or just to come and socialise. We would love to see you all.

 

If anyone would like to attend i need to no ASAP, as we will need to arrange passes for the day.

Just a couple of things to mention.

Also as a group we are hoping to have a presence at the Blackwater Show. We are hoping to be able to take Pigs, sheep and poultry. We have a little money left from the website so we are hoping to have a banner made with East Essex Smallholders on it.

 

If anyone would be interested in hepling with the event or bringing livestock please get in touch.  As we have got to arrange a meeting with the organisers of the event.
