Would Mary Berry Approve?
These moorish Hazelnut Macaroons really are delicious. I'm sure that they wouldn't pass the look test onThe Great British Bake-Off, but they sure are tasty - and even better - they are within arms reach!

Congratulations to Ledbury Country Market...
| |
| |
Congratulations to all at Ledbury Country Market in Herefordshire, which celebrates its 70th anniversary today on Friday 8th August at St Katherine’s Hall. You may recall we covered this particular market a little while ago in an article singing the praises of the nation’s Country Markets – a truly admirable cooperative with its roots in the First World War, the Womens’ Institute and home-made or home-grown produce, and an organization which has, no doubt despite many pressures, stayed true to its ideals, with an annual fee still of just 5p - a figure based on a typical day’s wage for a man in 1919 when the original sum was set. Taking into account almost 100 years of inflation, the figure today would be somewhere between £70 and £80 if it had been consistently updated, We thank you for your kind invitation to your celebrations today, but sadly we are unable to attend due to Home Farmer duties (there are just the two of us - Ruth and myself - in the office). We hope all your celebrations go well, and wish you all the best for the next 70 years.

The Home Farmer Roadshow...
|
|
|
We shall have a stand at the Melton Mowbray Rare Breeds Sale on Saturday 13th September, so we look forward to seeing any local readers. The show has always been a busy affair and great fun, together with lots of rare breeds on show and for sale.
We're also looking forward to attending the 3rd Scottish Smallholders and Growers Festival on Saturday 27th September. This show, the biggest smallholder show in Scotland, will run the RBST Scottish Rare Breed Championships at the event, and if last year's event is anything to go by, it'll be a cracker!
