The Committee of EESG are very pleased to announce that they have secured their first Corporate Sponsor for 2012.


Farm and Country Supplies, an independent smallholder supplier, has agreed to finance the purchase of a smart 6m gazebo for the group's use at the various country shows they take part in.  This will enhance our professional standing and provide much needed shelter for livestock on some of the few hot days we have.


It is anticipated that gazebo will be delivered well in time for our first show - the Blackwater Country Show.

FREE ADAS Sheep Meetings - 26 Jan and 30 Jan 2012

ADAS invites you to a FREE sheep workshop aimed at optimising health and improving management of ewes on commercial farms. The event will be run by Nerys Wright, ADAS Livestock Consultant.


Subjects covered will include:

• Lameness: Diagnosis, Cause, Prevention and Control
• Management of ewes in late pregnancy to maximise lamb survival and flock welfare. 

Management will include:

• Feeding ewes and general nutrition
• Handling and good management in the run up to lambing.

The morning session will be held in a local venue followed by lunch. The afternoon session will comprise of a farm walk.


This meeting is 100% funded by Livestock Health South East and is FREE to all
attendees.

A joint EBLEX, ADAS and Northpoint Vets preparation for lambing meeting, to assist with a stressful time of year no matter what the size of flock, was held at Lodge Farm, Sandon.

The aim of the meeting was to discuss the main pitfalls and problems encountered around lambing, including the use of a lambing simulator to demonstrate how to correct commonly occurring and problematic presentations and what equipment needed in a lambing box.

Discussions also took place on abortions and their common causes.
